What is Server | Explain of Server
In a computer network, the server is a main computer, so that many computers are connected, the server reads the request from the client and responds to it.
Types of Server
According to your need, server of the same kind has been created by dividing the functions of the server. Which is of the following type –
- File server – Holds this file, and sends or distributes it based on client’s request.
- Print Server – This server manages and controls one or more printers.
- Proxy server – This completes the function according to the other computer.
- Web server – This holds the web page, and it delivers according to the client’s request.
- Mail server – This holds the email and delivers it.
- Remote access server – Responds to the request as per their requirement for remote users, which are connected to the modem or connection.
- Fax server – sends and receives the entire network without any papers on the network.
- Database server – It keeps the database and database queries the query according to the user’s query on their client system.
- Application server – The application server supports the exchange of computing data between the database servers and the end users, and often separates them from each other. Sometimes it is referred to as middle ware type.
- Audio / Video Server – This server accesses the availability of multimedia as a website to the user.
- Chat Server – This enables enabling the entire user to exchange information in an environment.
- FTP server – This enables one or more files to move between secure computers, through which files are transferred securely to local networks or the Internet.
- News server – It acts as a distribution and delivers the source for public news groups.
- IRC server – IRC server is known as Internet Relay Chat, it is made up of several network servers that connect the user to each other through the network.
